Nevada Highway Patrol has announced that it will be clamping down on speeders along the I-15 south of Las Vegas to Stateline. The 26 mile, 3 lane stretch of highway is notorious for speeding with an average citations at 95 mph (25 mph over the posted speed limit). The ‘Zero Tolerance’ traffic enforcement program is set to focus on this area from Primm to the M Resort on the St Rose Hwy exit.
NHP already claims to have issued 8000 traffic tickets in the first half of 2013 compared to 6000 for the same period in 2012 with speeding fines starting from $170 and up. In conjunction with standard highway patrol vehicles the NHP is using unmarked cars and radar to catch speeders in the area.
